Meet the Staff
ObGyn Doctors in Birmingham, MIAt the OB/GYN office of Joseph A. Beals, MD, and Ann M. Rehm, MD, in Birmingham, Michigan, our doctors, nurses, and dedicated staff are highly qualified with extensive experience in obstetrics and gynecology. All of the exceptional employees on our team are ready to provide you with the best possible patient care.
Dr. Beals graduated from Michigan State University and received his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit. In 1984, he completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at William Beaumont Hospital and has been a medical staff physician there ever since.
Dr. Beals is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG).
Board-certified Dr. Ann M. Rehm joined Dr. Beals’ OB/GYN practice in 1998. She received both her undergraduate degree and medical degree from Michigan State University. Dr. Rehm also completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at William Beaumont Hospital and has been a medical staff physician since 1993.
Following her residency, Dr. Rehm practiced with a group in Sterling Heights and Bloomfield Hills, MI. She is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG).
Ms. Shepard earned her nursing degree from the California Hospital School of Nursing in Los Angeles in 1976. She served one year there as a postpartum nurse before moving to Rochester, Michigan, where she was a labor and delivery, postpartum nurse at Crittenton Hospital. She then worked for the Nurse’s Registry in southeastern Michigan as a women’s health staff nurse and for Suburban Obstetrics and Gynecology in Troy.
Ms. Shepard joined the practice in 1987 and oversees the nursing staff.
Ms. Kelco graduated from Wayne State University in Detroit in 1982 with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. After receiving her degree, she worked at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak for 10 years in various departments, including medical/surgical, gynecologic oncology, chemotherapy, surgical step-down, and the high-risk perinatal unit.
Ms. Kelco then spent five years at Crittenton Hospital in Rochester, where she worked in labor and delivery, postpartum care, gynecology, pediatrics, newborn nursery, and the special care nursery. Ms. Kelco joined the practice in 1993.
Ms. Toth earned her nursing degree from Oakland Community College in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. After earning her degree, she worked at William Beaumont Hospital in Troy, in the medical and labor and delivery wards. Ms. Toth joined our practice in 1999. She retired in 2015, but she happily came out of retirement to rejoin our practice in 2018. Ms. Toth enjoys taking care of all our wonderful patients.
Ms. Horan attended Port Huron Northern High School. At age 16, she moved to North Carolina to complete her high school degree. There, she trained for her certified medical assistant (CMA) accreditation at Wayne Community College in Goldsboro, North Carolina.
Ms. Horan's passion for OB/GYN was influenced by her mother, who is a labor and delivery RN. She worked at an OB/GYN office in Smithfield, North Carolina, for three years before moving back to Michigan in 2014 to be near family.
Ms. Horan joined our practice in February 2014. She has vast knowledge and experience in the OB/GYN field.
